St George’s Weekend

Last Sunday, South Leicestershire’s Beavers and Cubs had a fantastic time enjoying the activities that the Scouts, Explorers and Network had designed and built over the weekend. Activities included an aerial runway, obstacle courses (with and without sedan chairs), the greasy pole, den building, blow darts and teamwork challenges. Once more, Scouts and Leaders from the 115th Leicester joined us for the weekend.

Those camping for the weekend battled with Storm Hannah over the Friday and Saturday, with one group having their dining shelter destroyed in the wind. But the weather didn’t stop activities – groups went out hiking and playing wide games, cooking over fires, and everyone came together for a campfire on Saturday evening. Fortunately, the weather calmed down somewhat for the Sunday, and the sun even came out towards the end of the day.

Sunday’s activities were rounded off with the Promise renewal, guest speaker Lyn Rowe, and awards for young people and leaders. We were also able to congratulate Team Row of South Leicestershire Explorers, who had just returned from Lancashire having won the Bibby’s Farm Yomp. Congratulations to all who received awards, and thank-you to all for making it another fantastic St George’s Weekend.
